Over 30 years of experience
We have been delighted to work with those who are looking for solutions to their drainage problems. With our experience working in flood prone areas of Chicagoland we can help you with your flood and drainage problems. Every property is different which includes the soil profiles so we take that into account when we offer our solutions for water problems. Some of the tools in our war chest are french drains, swales, dry creek beds, retention ponds, pop-up emitters for lawn areas, dry wells, down spout extensions, sump pump discharge extensions, grading, and drainage systems for retaining walls.
Above is extreme water logged area where we used a solid PVC pipe system along with catch basins that can be easily cleaned out by the homeowner or a contractor to remove leaves or twigs. You can also see in the picture a pop-up emitter which is a great way to have water moving inside the pipe with no way of entrance by mosquitos that can carry disease. The methods above are also taking into account the may ordinances imposed by townships regarding drainage work. We have done landscape drainage work in Lincolnshire, Lake Forest, Wilmette, Palatine, Northbrook, Glencoe, Palatine, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Barrington, Killdeer, and many Chicago neighborhoods like Lincoln Square.
This is a catch basin on a drainage system with gravel around it to avoid soil from entering the drainage system.
Above is a example of both a sump pump discharge extension and a downspout extension being added to one drainage system. It also shows how we can install these drainage system while not disrupting existing sprinkler lines.
Above is a water percolation system that is hidden from sight on the right is what lies underneath. The problem was that water would stay in the sidewalk and would be a mess and danger year round. So we buried a French drain with extra space for water to be absorbed in the granite bolder area. The trench had weed barrier fabric to avoid soil entering the gravel and PVC pipe. It is example of our drainage solutions that not only are functional but can be aesthetically pleasing.
Another great option that can be added to a french drain to retain water and be percolate water slowly is a dry well. In the picture above you can see how the dry well can hold water but it is burred and not visible. This option is great for extreme situations where water has trouble percolating in to the soil as is the case of our alkaline rich soils.
Above you can see how we added a drainage system to a retaining wall that was otherwise going to collapse because of soil erosion from the sump pump discharge.
Above is what a buried down spot extension looks like in the landscape.
